G-LVCTA - A Teaching resource for teachers - Funded by Teachers.A Big THANKYOU to all our UK subscribing members of G-LVCTA (not for profit). Your collective annual subscriptions, together with your ongoing support has enabled G-LVCTA to action and further the aims of YOUR Teachers Association. The aims of G-LVCTA are to continue to initiate, extend, host, fund, support and deliver VC content, and collaborative classroom activities and support for our classroom members, and for our team of freelancers, presenters, invited guests, volunteers, and museum and gallery colleagues. Sustainable VC content programmes in the UK continue to be expensive and complicated to maintain and deliver successfully. Since April 2005, some of our original Global-Leap Museum and Gallery pilot VC programmes have gradually decreased, or been suspended for periods, or ceased altogether, because of funding, staffing, and other practical difficulties since Dfes/Becta funds were withdrawn. However, where Global-Leap has been invited to continue to give ongoing support to colleagues and schools, some of the original pilot VC programmes have been able to survive, and continue to deliver successful VC content programmes. In some cases with our support and determination, these and some new supported programmes have been able to expand, and now achieve 100% take up of their VC programmes. Without the financial contribution and practical support of our UK school members over recent years, via G-LVCTA, the whole area of VC content provision and support would be a very sparsely populated landscape today. Thank you to our school members. Regrettably, G-LVCTA is unable to allocate or use our UK members subscription income or use G-LVCTA facilities to fund, support or deliver VC content to non member UK schools, or to non contributing LAs, or to VC resellers for demonstration or promotional purposes, or to non contributing advisory services or others. G-LVCTA is unable to use members subscriptions or resources to deliver or support activities for promotional or advertorial purposes for LAs or resellers, or to test or trial equipment loans to non contributing schools or LAs for one off /demo sessions. As museum and gallery programmes are in some cases being forced to reduce output, it is vital that G-LVCTA continues to extend and initiate content opportunities and support for colleagues, to halt this decline and to extend content to meet the demands and needs of schools that have invested in new VC equipment purchase, or upgrading their existing equipment. LAs who have not recognised or invested in developing sustainable VC content and support should not request G-LVCTA members to fund programmes for non contributing schools. Thank you, particularly to those UK schools, LAs or others, who have, by identifying and assigning the occasional couple of days consultancy here and there, have enabled me to continue to fill any shortfall in funding needs for this unique and successful programme.. With a very modest amount of annual funding and resources G-LVCTA (not for profit) has developed a successful model, delivering and supporting hundreds of activities and VC content for our member schools each term. The activities that are listed on G-LVCTA lesson pages represent just a proportion of the activities that happen each week. Many more activities are arranged for individual class teachers as required, each week. Best wishes and here's to another exciting years work during April 2009-10.
